Frank Ferrante – “Love, Groucho”

Groucho’s daughter Miriam saved virtually every letter her father wrote to her between 1938, when she was eleven years old, and 1967.  These letters show an extraordinary father-daughter relationship.  In these letters Groucho is revealed as a man deeply concerned with holding his family together and who never hesitated to say exactly what he thought.  We catch a glimpse of the ups and downs of Groucho’s film, radio and television careers, two divorces and two remarriages, as well as Miriam’s often tumultuous young adulthood. We see the many facets of a man known by most only through his film roles and as the quipping quizmaster of “You Bet Your Life”.

Frank Ferrante was nominated for the Laurence Olivier Award in the Comedy Performance of the Year category for his portrayal of Groucho Marx from the age 15 to 85 in “Groucho: A Life In Revue.” In New York he won the Theater World Award and was nominated for an Outer Critics Circle Award for the off-Broadway production.
